November 07's SPIRITS LIFTED offering is an old benediction. The source is long lost and it is attributed to that most famous of authors; Anonymous. This lovely, little, folk poem is traditional to many English speaking cultures. The rhymes have probably undergone alteration many times since it has been past down through word-of-mouth rather than written lines. I have, no doubt, done the same because this is quoted from the non-digital banks of my all-too-human memory. The spirit and the well wishes, however, remain unchanged.

May your hands always find

worthy work they can do.

May your purse always
carry a shilling or two.

May the sun shine
every shadow of sorrow away.

May a rainbow arise
after each rainy day.

May your family and friends
forever be near.

May your heart, as your glass,
overflow with good cheer.
